M.B.B.S, F.R.A.C.G.P, Masters of Sports Medicine

As a child I had quite severe asthma and I regularly attended medical clinics. I admired my GP for his caring nature and sense of humour. These were the main reasons that I decided to become a doctor.

I graduated with honours from Monash university in 1995. I then worked in a number of public hospitals in Melbourne and regional Victoria before being awarded the Fellowship of the Royal College of General Practitioners in 2000. I also completed a Masters of Sports Medicine in 2011.

In the years that followed from 2003 to 2006, I worked in Beijing, China, as a Senior Medical Officer for International SOS. This role involved providing acute primary care to the local expatriate community. This included all aspects of family medicine as well as seeing the acute medical emergencies in the Emergency Department. In this role, there was also a strong emphasis on sports and musculoskeletal injuries which is an area of medicine that I still love.

From July 2007 to June 2016 I worked at the Melbourne Sports Medicine Centre (now Healthcare on Collins) treating patients from all walks of life – from the professional athlete to the weekend warriors. During this time I also joined the Midday Milers, a Melbourne running group that regularly run sessions around the ‘Tan’ running track of the Botanical Gardens.

I have worked as a medical officer for a number of elite sporting organisations, including the North Melbourne Football Club [2008 to 2010] and the Gold Coast Suns [2011 to 2018] in the AFL. I have also worked as a tournament doctor for the Kooyong Classic tennis tournament from 2014 to 2017 and the Davis Cup first round tie in 2016.

Having run for many years at a high level I enjoy being able to help athletes through all the stages of their injury from diagnosis through to management and prevention.

I was a middle-distance runner competing at club level with Mentone Athletics Club as well as competing in state and national Masters Championships. When not at work (or not running!) I also enjoy playing social tennis with my family.
