As part of Australia's Healthy Weight Week (16 - 22nd February 2015), the Dietitians at The Melbourne Sports Medicine Centre want to inspire all Australian's to cook at home more often to help achieve their healthiest weight. Run by the Dietitians Association of Australia, this important week is all about getting the right advice and support for those looking to achieve better health.
With many of us aspiring to eat better in the New year, the 2015 campaign aims to get people cooking at home more often. Research shows that people who prepare food at home are more likely to eat smaller portions and take in fewer kilojoules and less fat, salt and sugar. And in turn, this is more likley to result in a healthier weight.
Remember the key is to make changes gradually. Anything achieved too quickly is more likley to be lost just as quickly.
Writing down your goals and sharing your commitment to becoming healthier (not perfect!) with friends, family and co-workers can help keep you on track. As part of Australia's Healthy Weight Week, you can make a health pledge and share your commitment with family and friends through social media. You can also go into the draw to win some great prizes!
Australia's Healthy Weight Week is an initiative of the Dietitian's Association of Australia, raising awareness of the importance of achieving and maintaining a healthier weight and lifestyle.
