Coronavirus (COVID-19)

We will be keeping you up to date with COVID-19 information. We will regularly post information on our Facebook page and also on our website under the Latest Information tab. You may also call us if you have any questions. Our dedicated Administration team are here to help.

Our infection control practices are exemplary and we pride ourselves on the cleanliness of our clinic. It is our top priority to protect our patients and staff, keeping our practice clean and well sanitised. Enhanced cleaning, sanitisation and hygiene measures are regularly taken throughout the clinic and between consultations.

We have rearranged our waiting room to help maintain social distancing and have limited the number of Practitioners and patients in attendance at any one time. Please try to avoid arriving particularly early for your appointment and only bring along others when necessary.

We ask that all patients wear the mask provided and make use of the hand sanitiser or hand washing facilities that are available on entering and exiting the clinic.

Please be assured we are closely monitoring the ongoing situation surrounding COVID-19 and are strictly following the advice of the Department of Health and Human Services.

In addition to the important precautions to control COVID-19, the Government is concerned that people may have neglected their general health during the Pandemic and has impressed upon health practitioners, the need to encourage their patients/clients to focus on the care of their general physical and mental health .

The Melbourne Sports Medicine Centre offers Sports Doctors, General Practitioners, Physiotherapists, Podiatrists, Dietitians, Massage Therapists and Exercise physiologists to provide timely advice by Telehealth, and if DHHS criteria is met, in room treatment and care in a safe and controlled environment.

People have found working from home has created new problems or aggravated pre-existing ones. Feel free to discuss those troublesome joint and muscle pains, foot problems, exercise and nutritional issues with your Practitioner.

It’s also important not to neglect your regular general health check-ups as well as skin, blood pressure, Cervical Screening (previously PAP smear), asthma, cholesterol and diabetes review.

Importantly at this challenging time, emotional and mental health issues also need careful attention.

Sports Doctors & General Practitioners

All of our medical Practitioners are conducting mandatory Telehealth consultations, prior to any in room appointments. The majority of our medical Practitioners are available for in person consultations. However, if your regular Practitioner is currently unable to offer in room consultations, he/she will arrange the most suitable Practitioner for you to see.

The fees for Telehealth consultations with our medical Practitioners are listed here. Appointments for Telehealth consultations with our medical Practitioners are scheduled here.

Allied Health Practitioners

Our Allied Health team of Physiotherapists, Podiatrists, Dietitians/Nutritionists, Myotherapists/Remedial Massage Therapists and Exercise Physiologists are also offering Telehealth consultations in addition to the usual in room appointments. Your Allied Health Practitioner may need to speak to you on the phone prior to your appointment, just to make sure it’s safe for you to attend.

Many private health funds are offering a rebate for Physiotherapy Telehealth consultations. Please contact your private health fund regarding the rebates available to you.

To ensure the safety of our patients, staff and community, our variety of classes are temporarily ceased for the duration of the Stage 4 Metropolitan Melbourne lock-down. All our Practitioners are available for Telehealth consultations and if your injury/concern meets the current criteria set by DHHS, we have several Practitioners that are available to treat you on site.
