Consulting
a Dietitian is suitable for anyone who wants to improve
their health and nutrition through food and lifestyle
change. When faced with illness or a specific
health concern, sorting through complex information
and advice about diet can require specialist help.
A Dietitian is University trained for this and is registered
with the Dietitians Association of Australia as an Accredited
Practising Dietitian.
Food and eating
are enjoyable parts of daily life. Accredited
Practising Dietitians recognise this and can help you
make realistic and sustainable changes for a healthy
lifestyle and to maximise sports performance.
What is involved and what
does it cost?
Consultations are available
for individuals, couples and families. Inital
Dietary Consultations can be arranged for either 30
or 60 minutes with a charge of $80.00 and $105.00 respectively.
Review consultations are either 30 or 60 minutes with
a charge of $60.00 and $105.00 respectively.
During your initial consultation
we will discuss your goals regarding your diet.
We will ask you a series of questions about your medical
history then examine your present diet and exercise
behaviour. From this, we will provide advice and
practical suggestions for change, along with relevant
written material.
Review consultations are designed
to check your progress. Your dietary intake is
re-examined, if desired weight and/or body composition
reassessed, and additional changes recommeded.
Review consultations are usually two to four weeks apart
and the number of consultations you have is entirely
up to you.
Also remember that 'extras'
cover on Private Health Insurance offer a rebate on
all dietary consultations. You can also receive
a rebate from the Medicare Enhanced Primary Care Program
if a referral is provided by your General Practitioner.
