Everyone can benefit from seeing a Dietitian...

Consulting a Dietitian is suitable for anyone who wants to improve their health and nutrition through food and lifestyle change.  When faced with illness or a specific health concern, sorting through complex information and advice about diet can require specialist help.  A Dietitian is University trained for this and is registered with the Dietitians Association of Australia as an Accredited Practising Dietitian.

 

Food and eating are enjoyable parts of daily life.  Accredited Practising Dietitians recognise this and can help you make realistic and sustainable changes for a healthy lifestyle and to maximise sports performance.

 

Jo Gibson is an Accredited Practising Dietitian and Nutritionist with experience in a wide variety of areas including clinical, community, private and public health.
Josephine has experience with a wide range of clinical nutrition, resource and program development, group facilitation and public speaking. Much of Josephine's experience has being with Disordered eating and body image issues. Working in prevention and consultation at the Eating Disorders Foundation Victoria. And most recently three years working clinically on the Eating Disorders Unit at the Royal Melbourne Hospital.

Josephine has a strong interest in supporting people to develop their relationship with food and aims to work collaboratively with her individual clients with realistic and sustainable strategies and goals towards a healthier lifestyle for overall physical and psychological long term health.

 

Lauren Kerr is an Accredited Practising Dietitian and Nutritionist, and Accredited Sports Dietitian with 5 years experience in a wide range of areas spanning clinical, industry and community health.  Lauren graduated from Deakin University with a Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics, and a Bachelor of Health Science (Exercise Science) and has worked extensively in the areas of heart disease and weight management.  Lauren has a keen interest in sports nutrition, being an Accredited Anthropometrist, and eating for optimal health.

 

What is involved and what does it cost?

 

Consultations are available for individuals, couples and families.  Initial Dietary Consultations can be arranged for 60 minutes with a charge of $105.00 respectively.  Review consultations are either 30 or 60 minutes with a charge of $60.00 and $105.00 respectively.

 

During your initial consultation we will discuss your goals regarding your diet.  We will ask you a series of questions about your medical history then examine your present diet and exercise behaviour.  From this, we will provide advice and practical suggestions for change, along with relevant written material.

 

Review consultations are designed to check your progress.  Your dietary intake is re-examined, if desired weight and/or body composition reassessed, and additional changes recommended.  Review consultations are usually two to four weeks apart and the number of consultations you have is entirely up to you.

 

Also remember that ‘extras’ cover on Private Health Insurance offer a rebate on all dietary consultations.  You can also receive a rebate from the Medicare Enhanced Primary Care Program if a referral is provided by your General Practitioner.
