Back Pain

If your back pain is acute and severe and you struggle to get out of bed, the best management is bed rest for a maximum of 1 - 2 days using pain medication and heat packs.  Try to avoid sitting and do gentle movements within your abilities.  If you have leg pain, numbness or weakness associated with this it is important to seek an opinion from a Sports Doctor as soon as possible.

If your pain is less severe and you are able to move around but experience discomfort form this, you will get the most benefit from physiotherapy treatment.

If you have had pain for longer than 6 - 12 weeks which fluctuates in severity with minimal leg pain, then it is likely you will need some exercise rehabilitation with a physiotherapist to control your ongoing symptoms.
